"JeppView" refers to JeppView version 3 for MFDs.

JeppView software is optional and does not need to be installed in order to run the Jeppesen Services Update Manager (JSUM) and program your media. JeppView has the capabilities to print charts in your subscription, plan basic routes, and download your most recent chart data.
Unlike NavData, there are multiple ways of retrieving chart data to place on your hard drive. JSUM allows you to download the chart data once and have it available in JeppView along with any other program that uses the JeppView terminal charts (such as FliteDeck and FliteStar) and in JSUM as long as it is on the same computer and uses the same serial number.
| NOTE | To update your MFD terminal chart data using the Electronic Chart Data (ECD) Discs, you only need ECD Disc 1. However, you do need ECD Disc 2 to update JeppView enroute data and the Jeppesen Airway Manual. You can also update all the data by using JeppView's online update feature by clicking File > Check for Updates in JeppView.
MFD enroute navdata data is only available by downloading it in JSUM. |
Here are three methods you can use to retrieve terminal chart data for JSUM and JeppView:
Use ECD Disc 1 received in the mail every 14 days with a JVMFD CD subscription. If you receive the JeppView CDs before the JSUM online update is available, you can direct JSUM to update terminal chart data for your panel unit from ECD1.
| NOTE |
Updating charts from ECD Disc 1 is potentially faster than downloading for the following reasons: your Internet connection is limited in speed, your installed charts are older than three cycles, or you have a large coverage. Loading charts from CD is also potentially faster the first time you install JSUM because the initial installation requires you to download every chart in your subscription. An Internet connection is still required to log in to JSUM the first time. If the charts from the CD are out of date, JSUM connects to the terminal chart server to update the charts. |
If JeppView is installed on the same computer as JSUM, run the ECD Disc 1 installer to update your JV terminal charts. After the charts have been successfully copied from the CD, JSUM displays "100%" in the Download Progress column. Select the chart service in JSUM and program the new chart data to your media.
If JeppView is not installed on the same computer as JSUM, place the ECD Disc 1 in your CD-ROM. Click Cancel if the JeppView installer launches. Select the terminal chart service in JSUM and click Start. JSUM copies the charts to your hard drive and displays "100%" in the Download Progress column. You can then program the new chart data to your media.
If you update your media with ECD1 before the new chart cycle is available in JSUM, JSUM cannot recognize the new cycle number. However, the programmed data is still correct for the new cycle, and you can safely update your panel unit with it.
If JeppView and JSUM are installed on the same computer, click File > Check for Updates in JeppView. After the charts have been successfully downloaded from the Internet, JSUM displays "100%" in the Download Progress column, reading the data from the JeppView Terminal Charts folder. You can then program the chart data on the data card using JSUM.
After the initial download of all your terminal charts, later data updates consist of only the charts that have changed or been added, minimizing the amount of data to download. The exception to this is if your charts are more than ten cycles old, after which the JeppView UpdateClient downloads a complete terminal chart set.
Download the data from the Internet using JSUM. When you download the terminal chart data using JSUM, if JeppView and JSUM are installed on the same computer, the information is saved in the JeppView Terminal Charts folder, or, when JeppView is not installed, in a temporary cache folder.
